I am looking for a bit of information/advice about employing people part time.
We need to hire a part time worker (25hrs) to carry out a role as secretary/administrator for the company.
In your experience is it better to hire through an agency or through advertising the position ourselves?
If we were to hire ourselves what information are we required to take to ensure they are legally entitled to work etc.
We are looking to fill the position by the beginning of May so are fairly short on time
Any advice would be gratefully received, thanks.

In my experience it is better to hire from personal ads that you place. Though there are some agencies, it is my opinion that somonee who takes the time to search out an ad and act on it themselves has more drive. I am not saying agencies are bad nor am I saying those using them as a job seeker are bad but generally those who take the time to search will value the job more.
