Looking for a finance company for my customers  Reply with quote

Hello everyone, I am new to this board and have a few questions.

I own a small computer shop located in Florida. We sell PCs and also do networking and websites. I am looking for some info about offering my customers financing options for their purchases.

For example, if someone goes to a car dealership to buy a new car, they have an option to finance it through a 3rd party bank. When they buy the car, the bank wires the money to the dealer and then collects payments on the loan from the customer. As far as the dealer is concerned they were paid in full for the purchase.

I would like to offer something like this to my clients. Most of the work I do is fairly expensive - between $1,000 and $15,000 depending on the job. Obviously this is not pocket change to most people, so even though I can offer superior service at a lower price, Dell still gets the project because they offer financing and I don't.

I accept credit cards, but most people don't want to use their credit card if it's an expensive project.

I tried searching through google, but there is so much unrelated garbage, it's almost impossible to sort through it all and find what I want.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might look to find a company that is in this line of work?

It sounds like you are a good business owner have you tried confronting your bank to see if they would help in offering financing that way you both get some money out of it. I am sure they would be glad to help out especially if you helped screen out people that would definitely help... just some suggestions.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion.

Unfortunately I have already asked my bank and was unable to get anywhere with them. I bank with Bank of America, and what they do in this case is offer a rebranded BoA credit card with my company's name on it. I give the customer an application and then submit it to the bank. It takes a few days to get an answer back.

They have a pretty high monthly minimum - both new accounts and dollar amount. I would probably only have maybe one or two customers a month apply, if that.

What I'd really like is a company that would give me some sort of online application that I could have the customer fill out in the store and get an immediate answer (I.E. approved or declined, and their credit limit). If I could find something like that, I could sell a lot more systems to home users instead of primarily targeting only businesses.

If you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Thanks again for your suggestion though! Smile

I could be wrong but the US seem to be a lot more creative in financing. Seems like if one has the will, there's sure to be a way!
