I know what the stock market is and that you must contact a broker. Would it be possible to have individual and direct involvement? How? Do any of you know a website that can teach "trading" and "stock-no-how"? Are the profits even worth investing in the stock market?

I believe NASDAQ.com has a fine tutorial on stock trading and trading terms.

Didn't anyone answer when you asked this the other times?
In the 1960s, before computers, all trading was done thru a 'full service' broker. Commisions were costly, an important part of your 'buy' decisions. Several Fortune 500 companies offered DRIPs - Dividend Reinvestment Programs - so that you could buy shares directly from the company controller, and the dividends were automatically reinvested for you, all w/o a commision.
The paper shares were sent directly to you (as opposed to being kept in 'street name' by a broker). So when you wanted to sell, you had to find a broker and hand deliver the shares - and that was about as expensive as just using a broker to start with. You had to open an account, drive to their office, quite a hassle.
DRIPs are still available today - altho the 'advantages' have disappeared - you can now trade on-line for a pittance, so I doubt that many people bother with DRIPs these days. I don't.
I avoid owning stocks in individual companies - after Spiders, Index Funds, etc, were invented, they provide the same return but w/o the risk of bk's and w/o the risk of business sector failures. In my case, I made way more money after I QUIT trading and stock picking.
