| Stock Option Question |
|
|
Hi -
I worked for a company where I became vested in a stock option plan, but the stock had no market value because there was no IPO. I was subsequently laid off and the company was acquired by another company that is publicly traded without there having been an IPO at the company before acquisition. My question is: does the vesting in my stock option transfer to the publicly traded or other shares of the company that acquired the one that I worked at?
Thanks in advance for responses!

Sorry, the answer is "it depends"
Depends on the vesting terms, terms of the option grant, expiration and exercise price, terms of the aquisition.
Somewhere in all that fine print, there's an answer.
