I did it once and got so ill. It was not worth the $20.

Many of my friends in college would donate for beer money.

Somethings just are not worth doing for money.

When they put that sailene solution in I can taste the salt. ICK!!!

Seems that low blood levels and high-alcohol blood levels wouldn't mix too well! Wink

I did not drink any alchol that night. Felt very ill. Drank water and eventually orange juice.

The Black Jack near by stated that they quit letting workers donate befoe a shift as one blacked out on the job once.

Don't remeber if I at pizza there then night but I probably did.

"Colorless watery fluid of blood and lymph containing no cells and in which erythrocytes and leukocytes and platelets are suspended."

Now that you mention it, is selling plasma a different process than donating blood?

You guys are lucky, in Canada we don't get paid, it's purely voluntary. I'd be drained out if I could make money donating plasma.

What do they pump out to extract the plasma from? I'm still a bit confused.

They take out your blood and put the non plasma back.

It is illegal to sell blood but you can sell your plasma.

They also put some saline solution or something like that in you that gives you an awfull taste in your mouth eventhough they put in in intraveniously.

Some states may still permit you to sell your blood. In Colorado I know it is illegal.

You get more money if you have a VD. They like the antigens or something like that. Some college students go for the free health screenings as well as the cash.

Me and my buddies gave plasma once a week for a few months of our college carriers. The most depraved months. We did it A) for the money ($75 the first time and $45 each additional time) and B) to go get drunk off one beer.

Yeah, the process is, remove the blood, centrifuge it to seperate the plasma from the red blood cells, suspend the red blood cells in saline and pump it back into the subject. Its a very strange feeling, like all your veins just turned cold.

It was usually a bunch of college students like us and the homeless. Or some combination thereof.
