What kind of concept do you deal with? People tend to think that PF people just lecture their clients on why they shouldn't buy spinners and why credit card debt is bad. What is it reall? What's the exciting world of personal finance all about?

To me, it's everything dealing with money....investing, growing wealth, real estate is part of it, etc. The list of what it's really about could go on forever.

they'll talk to you about everything with your finances, like C9Consulting said above. If you're going to go and hire people to consult on your finances, I figure it's best to direct the conversation yourself--tell them these are some things I'm thinking about doing, what do you think, what can you tell me about it?
They can give you advise on how to invest for retirement (a big one), real estate...everything.

It is about reducing debt and building wealth. However some personal financial planners could be selling you one poor investment vehicles for their own benefits.
That is what you must watch out for are those financial planners who keep their best interests ahead of yours.

There is a dearth in proper planning and controlling of finance where people in India are concerned. The main objective in today's world is not only money, but how to put that money to good use to take care of all your future needs! And with responsibilities such as proper education for children, basic household needs, family welfare and health, medicines and hospital charges and even the occasional need for travel and outings more and more people are preferring personal financial planning to meet their basic needs.
The Indian economy is showing a consistent growth rate and with more and more investment and finance companies cropping up, both in the government as well as private sectors; the Indian financial sector is becoming one of the best and preferred investment options. Most of us do not have the appropriate financial plan to invest and save money for the future, and therefore are not able to meet long term future needs and other financial requirements.

everyone would guide you in personal finance or some investment plans which usually all the finance people do or say convince the customer, but I have not seen who can guide you when once invested and if it gets crashed then what is the procedure to get repaired? I think there are only few people who would guide in improving your credit score.

It's just a friendly advice about investments. You can ask around if you're quite confused on one thing and can't make a decision. No one is really saying that you need to invest here, pushing you to make that investment. It's still your choice on how you'll go about with your finances.

When PF is involved and you consult a financial advisor then you need and should expect all information, and if that is credit card debt is bad or a certain mortgage rate not worth considering. If you walk into a financial venture or take credit without research then you will have problems in the future and therefore your next research will be finding a debt consolidation company to help you out of a sticky situation.
