Although Visa and MasterCard are widely accepted worldwide, it is often a good idea to carry other brands, such as Amex and/or Discover if you insist on using credit cards abroad. For instance, many large department stores in Beijing and Shanghai only accept UnionPay (the Chinese branded card) and Discover cards. Unless you're able and willing to withdraw cash from the ATM to cover your purchases, you might be willing to pay the foreign exchange fee for the convenience and security of using a credit card.

Worldwide I would say Discover is the most accepted in my experience, and by extension Diners Club.

There is a great credit card processor capable of accepting international credit cards at http://www.payvision.com.

Traveling abroad without a no foreign fee credit card can be more expensive and, in worst case situations, nightmarish. Using a debit card can obviously create some serious, time consuming and unnecessary financial headaches. Paying a 3% fee is generally worth avoiding the potential headaches, but since it is possible to avoid this fee, the best option is to apply for a credit card that doesn’t charge a 3% international transaction fee.

Capital One no hassle rewards card is the card for you. Capitalone has a great travel rewards program and also has historically been one of the best with foreign transaction fees, although I am not certain what they charge now.

As mentioned above, Capitol One is the only issuer that I know of that does not charge foreign transaction fees (although I suspect they may change this since everyone else has). So for now, they are the best for international use.

I really like the idea that there should be no hassle if we are traveling and we must carry our international card with us so we don't face the problem of capital anytime but it doesn't mean that we should spend too much on buying things.Really appreciative blog.

I still use my traditional Citibank card. I also have a mastercard. I think having these 2 cards are more than enough for me to use already. Well, I think my Citibank card can be used worldwide. I just am not sure whether all establishments do honor them.

If you are planning to have another Credit card for yourself then you must look on the web so you could know about the credit card offered by many lenders and their charges and all things regarding that.
