The Hangover is the best comedy I've ever seen. Better than Old School, Animal House, or anything else.
I have heard District 9 was great... haven't seen it.
Craig Finn is brilliant.

Well I am sure the new Star Trek is pretty awesome. I didn't get to see it when it was screening in cinemas, but I have ordered the DVD.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if 2012 comes pretty close.

haven't really seen many 2009 films, still trying to catch up with 2008. although i did enjoy Resident Evil: Degeneration but i think it was released at the very end of 2008 rather than 09

For me it was WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and BROTHERS, the second one I thought was one excellent drama.
