I got an Interview! |
|
|
Basically I got a call in the afternoon from an unrecognized phone number and it was one of the companies that I had applied for about 3 weeks ago. He wants to interview me this Friday for the position in investment banking.
I basically got all my facts memorized. I know what I have to say to tie my skills, achievements, past experience to their goals. Not sure if I should included Linens 'N Things as an experience. Maybe I can say that working at LNT has helped me developed my communication skills because I must interact and give quality services. I'm definitely going to incorporate on attending to school and working and still able to maintain a solid GPA which exemplifies that I have organizational skills, well at time management.
The company is Maxim Group. My goal is to obtain an accounting internship but this is investment banking position which I am also interested in. Any advice for the interview? I feel that's going to conflict in a way. Honestly, I really want to learn more about investing but at the same time I do want an accounting internship. Those are the 2 fields that I'm most interested it in but accounting wins over investment by a small margin. I'm a bit confused with this situation.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks

Well the interview went well, over an hour! They basically want me to come in again for a 2nd interview. I must have luck today because as soon as I got home, the Vice President of that firm wanted me to write a letter containing reason what I've learned from this interview and what I am expecting from this internship. As I'm sending my letter by email, I get another email and it's from JP Morgan Chase. And they want to know my availability and contact number and meet with me in person for a teller position. Everything is going my way so far!

Internships are one of the best ways to gain experience working in a field you're considering as a career. The company benefits by seeing how you work w/ your peers and can evaluate your skills in the work place. You're almost guaranteed a position in the firm when your internship is over (if YOU want to work there).
You're on your way -- Congrats!

Thank You ALL!! They want me to work Mon-thursday, but they said I can work from Monday - Wednesday if I'm still working at Linens 'N Things, but I'm thinking about putting my 2 weeks in if and only if JP Morgan hires me as a teller and will give me thursday to saturday to work, but right now I'm just polishing up my knowledge, reading a bit investment here and there. Knowing the basics, just something to prepare myself
