Pyramid Scheme posts will be deleted, here's why... |
|
|
Please be aware that we do not accept postings for pyramid schemes, besides being illegal, they generate no wealth, flood the web with spam, and ultimately rob most of the participants of their time and money.
Don't bother posting them, they will simply be deleted.
Food for thought...

I'm glad to see you took this tact, Andrew. IMO, the only people that benefit from these schemes are those at the very, very top - the instigators. Even those high up in a chain rarely make anything.

I didn't delete all your posts, just a few duplicate copies that had been posted in the incorrect forum. Thanks for joining.

That website explains why chain letters don't work - but what about normal pyramid schemes? Is there a website that explains why they are a waste of time? I have a friend who's getting involved with one and I want to warn him appropriately. Thanks.

There is no web site that explains pyramids that's all inclusive.
If you don't understand business, you will eventually get lured into a pyramid scam -- it's that simple.
The reason why is the scammers 'hang out' in the Direct Sales industry and change their face from time to time. We have some friends that were lured into one of these medical savings cards schemes (they pretty much are all pyramid scams because the MAJORITY of the income is from recruiting new reps. -- there is little/no money in selling the REAL service/product). I discussed this with them for six months. Finally he says to me, "I think i get it." He had read everything I sent him (her too). Well, within three months they had 'signed up' with another nutritional pyramid scam, most of which are pyramid schemes that collapse over time. It's obviously not easy to understand what a pyramid scheme really is to the average worker. And, there must be something very addictive to these schemes, since those that get involved in them seem to jump around thinking they have found the next greatest thing.
You really have to learn to isolate yourself from those that get involved in these schemes -- that's the best way to avoid them. The fact is, there are many pyramid schemes on this board where posts have not been deleted.
Take care,
Fred

We try to keep the Pyramid Schemes down, although they masquerade in many forms.
Feel free to point them out for eradication, and thanks for stopping by Fred.

Hey Andrew,
Easier said than done -- it appears if I took on the pyramid scams here I would get smacked around pretty hard. lol
The problem with this (as you suggested) is that there are flat out illegal scams -- those easy to see. These are your matrix and binary and stacking type scams.
Then there are disguised pyramid scams that ride in other the radar of the laws. In other words, they are actually legal by the letter of the law. They usually have a product but if you learn to track the money flow, you can clearly find out the money is made from recruiting (with the product used as a front). Also, many nutritional pyramid scams fall into this category - like Noni which has no value but is sold through pyramid schemes at a premium (i.e. -- front for a pyramid scam but not illegal by the letter of the law).
Then there are the biggest category. The legitimate Direct Sales companies that have distributors that sell training and TOOLS to the organizations. Tools are sold through an organization but they have no end value OTHER than to fuel the business. So, by definition (and practical application) they create a pyramid scam out of a legitimate business.
Bottom line: If someone knows the things above, they can find the schemes and scams themselves and they THINK about the marketability of the products they HAVE TO SELL (there are no businesses that you don't have to sell stuff) they will be safe.
Take care,
Fred

Would "GPT" sites be included. Because I know a 2 year company that has 100k members and pays every month. On a $10,000 investment, you could be making $3,000 every month for 12 months. Basically 1% daily.

If GPT stands for "get paid to....", then I think that would not be considered a pyramid scheme. For example, PTR (paid to read) systems, while not terribly lucrative, are usually not based on a pyramid model.
Pyramid schemes usually begin with you having to invest money paid to existing participants, followed by you trying to get people to join and pay you. There is often no real product, only the pyramidal matrix scheme.

Avm,
Think about it -- if you were a business owner would you pay 365% to borrow money when you could get it for less than 10% if you are low risk or maybe 15% if you are high risk?
What EXACTLY is this money being used for?
What you will find is most of these scams don't invest anything -- they just sign up new members and pay that money out to the previous member in the pyramid scam -- which is illegal because even if you make a few dollars, 99% of these schemes promise returns but they lose their money.
Also, the 'get paid to...' is pretty much a proven business failure. It's been tried thousands of times on small scale and hundreds, maybe thousands of times on a large scale and has failed every time. Avoid anything like this to maintain your reputation.
Take care,
Fred

SCHEMES |
|
|
I am always wary of schemes. Unfortunately the biggest scams and schemes are overlooked.
Some facts:
The BIG BANKS get more in interest payments from corporations than are paid out in dividends to the risk takingt investors and share holders.
When Corporations are in threat of bankruptcy (as more and more are) the Government bails them out and the Burden is put on the tax payers so that the BIG BANKS dont loose, but the investors and tax payers do.
Fact The Big Banks get more in interest on a house than the laborers and contractor get for thier work.
The younger generations get increased tax burdens and debt that is imposible to pay. Aprox tax is 50% of your income and I cant remember every citizens dollar figure share of the debt (which doesnt include financial committments to other countries and many other expenses not accounted for).
So you see our whole monetary system is Like a Pyramid scheme where only those at the top can win. The working tax payer is now a tax slave, second class citizen.
The difference in Our fraudulent Monetary System and a Chain letter is that the Bankers are cut out of the picture. I guess its Ok for them to committ fraud though.

Andrew, Do you have a definition for what you call a pyramid scheme?
I certainly dont want anyone to think I suport schemes, however after a little research I find thier are many different Opinions of what a scheme is. I would argue that Network marketing Operates on the principle of people helping people, yet others would say its just another form of a pyramid. However its no different tha any Bussiness in America in my Educated understanding of how the economy really works. The Owners and , CEOs, and the Banks on Top always get the bulk while us bottom feeders get whats left, LOL. I would also argue that Lotteries are Legalized but have the same effects as Pyramid schemes, But I guess its Ok If The Government or the banks are the founders of a scheme, so long as we the people dont originate and become the benificiaries of one, LOL Principly the arguement is absurd.
I guess I am asking for your definition as this is your site. It could help clarify (or maybe it wouldnt?) to prevent the anoying posts that seem to clutter space and offend people.
