General Electric delivered a shot of confidence to US investors when it raised its dividend, pushing the S&P through the key 1,100 level. US stocks like NASDAQ & S&P rose to a good note as GE was strong on that day.
Adrian Cronje, chief investment officer of Atlanta-based wealth management firm Balentine said: "GE is a company whose tentacles extend throughout large parts of the economy, and (the hike) clearly shows they're (having) a bit more visibility on their future cash flows."
Anton Schutz, who manages the Burnham Financial Funds as president at Mendon Capital said: "On the whole the earnings season has been strong. I think you got a pretty resilient economy despite the headlines."
The Dow Jones Industrail average gained 102.32 points to 10,424.62. The S&P 500.SPX added 8.99 points to 1,102.66. The NASDAQ Composite rose 23.58 points to 2,269.47.
