TSP VS. Wilshire 5000  Reply with quote

I have been investing in the TSP for many years, switching between funds as the market fluctuated.
I would now like to be less active and stay fully invested (no G Fund).
I would like to use the Wilshire 5000 index as a model. Does anyone know if there is any correlation between the C & S Funds in the TSP with the Wilshire 5000 index.

I know the S fund is based on the Wilshire 4500, which is the Wilshire 5000 less the S&P 500 (C Fund). Using this I should invest 90% S and 10% C to match the wilshire 5000.

This doesn't make sense since the Wilshire 5000 is more Largecap then Small & MidCap combined.

What's wrong with my logic? I'd appreciate any help in figuring out the best way to match the Wilshire 5000 index to the TSP.
Thanks
Jeff
