Quick trip to Los Angeles, where and who can help me invest?  Reply with quote

Hey guys, I'm from the philippines and am taking my family for a vacation to LA. You know, Disneyland and all. Anyway, I'm kinda thinking if I should take the oppurtunity to set up an investment account while I'm there. I probably need an outfit there that can manage and advice a portfolio for me.

I'm looking at starting at about $15K, then, if I'm happy, I don't mind slowly building it up to $350K in about a year's time.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I'm reluctant to give you any advise, because I'm not familiar with the laws regarding investment accounts held by non-residents. I'd suggest you call one of the three big investment companies: Fidelity, T Rowe Price, and/or Vanguard and ask them about what's involved. You should be able to find them easily by googling, and no doubt they have international toll-free numbers.

Good luck and enjoy your stay. Smile

'much appreciated!

I certainly hope my family will not spend all our money on this trip, so I'd have some leftover to INVEST!

you'll definitely want to see if it's even worth it to invest here...the U.S. isn't really known for being a tax haven so you may be facing some hefty taxes being a non-domestic investor. That's just what I'm imagining from knowing how our government likes to tax any and everything.
