Of course many of the websites are using sitemaps to help search engine crawlers to get their pages easily crawled and indexed in the search engines.

yes sitemap is very useful for a site.but we use two types of sitemap for a website:
1st For User : it's for user .it's very user friendly so user can easily access the page they need.
2nd sitemap for search engines : so search engine can easily crawl website pages.
