It's your money  Reply with quote

I don't understand how someone can force me to pay on something I may not agree with. Either it be for religious reasons or whatever. A good example is this. A lot of tax money goes towards government funding for institutions that may allow females under the age of 18 to go get abortions under total confidentiality.

I'm not the one to be able to say if having an abortion is right or wrong but I am sure there are many out there who feel it is not only wrong but considered murder. My point here is this, how can anyone force them to pay taxes for funding these agencies that practice this. It may be totally against their religion or whatever belief that it is terrible to abort even if it's still in the womb. There can be a lot more said here but I do believe the point is pretty clear.

Change the system; change the law; but until then you can SAY whatever you want; that's protected under the law; but they can DO whatever they need to collect, and DOing is going to win over saying so long as those who are doing the saying are just a small voice crying in the wilderness.

I'll tell you what you CAN do: try to dispell the notion permeating the American income-earning population that getting a tax refund is a good thing. As long as they look at it as a "gift" from the IRS they're not going to listen. They need to realize it's their money to begin with......

Thank you for your good post,it is very helpful for me.

Are you cheap or do you just spend your money like it's cramping your style?
I'm cheap with myself, but I'll spend on other people.

Is that really what you want to know? You want to know something, and what you want to know is how? If so, I suppose Coaster has already addressed your question, but I suspect that the answer you want is to a question you haven't actually asked. There are clues in your post that suggest that you have a moral question. For example, could it be that you're asking if it is morally right to not only impose but in fact enforce immoral laws? I would suppose the answer is no, but believing that a law is immoral isn't what makes a law immoral. Not even saying that a law is immoral makes it immoral. If it is, then it is; that's a trivial truth, but is it, and how do we know? At any rate, I haven't given my opinion one way or another, as I am abstaining from espousing a view at this time; my main contribution is to point out my suspicions that the methodology of how anyone can force another to do something may not actually be what you are after.

To make it even worse - you are psrt of the society that voted for the Laws, hired the FBI, the CIA, the IRS, the Army, theh Police to forcibly enforce those Laws. Ie, you, the tax payer, are paying to have the IRS force you. Very Happy

I hate paying taxes, but gov have big guns to collect them. There many legal option to avoid taxes legally. Like register as self employed work on contract and exclude all spending related to the business from taxation.

If we allowed our tax bill to be only for those things that we support 100%, I think that I am due to receive a big tax refund check on the whole Iraq war thing.

I am sorry, but as said here before don't like the law work to change it. If your change is deemed unconstitutional, and there is a change of that... Then pass a constitutional amendment and get it ratified.
