How do you create flash banners?  Reply with quote

I had a few questions about generating flash banners:

1. What are the best and most legitiment web-based sites that let you design / generate your own flash banner?

2. What is an appropiate price to pay for the banner?

3. Are there sites that allow your to create a flash banner for free?

4. Does the banner have to be hosted from another service other than the service that hosts my website?

Any and all information you have regarding flash banners would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Many sites are setup to help you develop a simple banner for free. but you should not pay if you pay for your banner more than 20 bucks... Yes you could host is form same host as your site.

There are programs to make your own
flash-banner.

http://www.anim-fx.com/ is one of those. (trail-version will
only let you preview and test the program - no saving)

But if you "google" hard enough, you probally find
some freeware what will do the same or even more.

1. What are the best and most legitiment web-based sites that let you design / generate your own flash banner?

This is probably unhelpful, since I am assuming you may not be familiar with the program, but Flash MX is a pretty good program, not too hard (if you do other sorts of design) to learn in a weekend, and since you're in control, you can tweak and add forever to get the perfect message out there. If you add on top of the $500 price tag a couple of helper programs like Swishmax, you can make low-filesize, compelling banners that blow away anything you could hope to get for free.

2. What is an appropiate price to pay for the banner?

Here's why i mentioned going either in-house or the do-it-yourself route. Getting a good designer to make a banner for you would require that you know something fairly specific as to what you want, to the point perhaps of storyboards and obviously any text content, supplying of vector-based logos and etc if possible. By the time you've done that, you can still then expect to pay a grand or so for a truly great banner, though if this is all sounding like overkill for your purposes (you might want to mention your budget in future posts), you could look to a few good sites where Flash people hang out, like FlashKit.com and etc, where many times reverse-auction or classifieds posting for "gigs" is commonplace.

3. Are there sites that allow your to create a flash banner for free?

They mostly make bloated code via robots, and have severe limitations on what you can do in terms of branding and etc, but yes. Google and friends can help you find these.

4. Does the banner have to be hosted from another service other than the service that hosts my website?

No, especially not if you do it yourself. It's nice if you serve the banner from your own platform or trusted host if possible, especially if you end up paying on a cost/impression basis, as it will help you keep the advertising parties honest in their billing.

Hope that's generally helpful...
