| How do I invest $300K for retirement & leave some for my |

I jus sold the last of my Apts. and have $300K in a money market. I want to invest and draw some income and yet leave most to my children. I also have $250K in an IRA account, which I can't touch until I am 591/2, my wife is retired and makes $1800/month, my military reserve retirement wil get me about $800/month when I turn 60, and my job will make me $1500/month. OH I should earn $1K/month at age 62 from social security.
Back to the $300K. My broker has suggested several possibilites. American Funds, which have a steady grwoth. Govt type funds that guarantee 3% grwoth. He has also suggested a mix match of several types of investments. What are your thought? Thanks.

NQU and VMT are the symbols of two quality closed-end muni bond funds. They both pay a monthly dividend which is exempt from federal income tax. Acquire these shares slowly, on dips over the next 24 months, as the share price drifts down in response to higher interest rates.
