Hey, people! Here's our chance to do something for our pet pals.
If you think that a group that fixes pets for free should get the use of some city land as opposed to another art gallery, then please help!
Houstonian or not, post let us know if you support this cause!
Snap Action Alert
Urgent Help Needed to Expand Dog and Cat Sterilization in Houston!
Help animals by telling the Houston Mayor to support SNAP's solution to ending dog and cat overpopulation!
SNAP has the opportunity to build a new and expanded animal sterilization clinic on surplus land owned by the City of Houston in the Fourth Ward / Midtown area. SNAP would incorporate an adoption center in the facility for city shelter animals and plans include creating a public dog park on half of the property. We have the support of neighborhood associations, many members of City Council, and we have interest from funding institutions to get the project underway now.
In spite of this support and the major crisis created by dog & cat overpopulation in Houston, Mayor White’s office is of the opinion that the public would not support the land being dedicated to helping animals. Rather, the Mayor’s office is of the opinion that the public supports creating a space for art.
Please immediately contact Mayor Bill White and let him know that as a taxpayer, YOU support SNAP’s Midtown expansion project. You can find SNAP’s full proposal to the City of Houston online at http://snapus.org/houstonproposal.
Tell the Mayor that SNAP’s proposal saves $5,497,477 in tax dollars the first year alone by preventing 44,121 puppies and kittens AND SNAP’s proposal maintains open spaces in the city by creating a public dog park.
