Martha Stewart...?  Reply with quote

Is this as simple as crime and punishment, or is Martha being made an example of? Some say she will get off too easy for what she has been convicted of, given the financial damage to the small investors who bought those shares of ImClone not knowing it was going to drop. I don't want to excuse insider trading, but can you imagine how hard it would be to have insider knowledge, and not dump or buy stock if there were going to be significant financial impact to yourself?

Let me just jump up here on my soap box....

I don't approve of what she did, but I think she was made an "example" of. How many men have done the same thing and either got off with a slap on the wrist or a fine?!

And while we're at it... what's going to happen to the guys who ran Enron into the ground and destroyed hundreds of peoples lives?! Will they have to spend any time in jail?! How much money did they get away with? (Martha saved about $50,000.)

I'm not a feminist, but Martha was a target because she was making alot of money baking cakes and making enemies!

I'm stepping off my soap box now.

You are right there seem to be some inequities going on here, and the Enron stuff is orders of magnitude larger in it's effect.

Apologies in advance!  Reply with quote

Personally, I think the Martha Stewart conviction is a sad commentary on US corporate corruption extending to the NeoCon Judicial system. The Martha case is a shill to distract the people while the true perps get away unscathed.

I have yet to see conclusive evidence that MS has committed a felony crime deserving of jail time.

But I recently saw this pic. The pic made me laff. And so I pass it on.

I am unsure how long the link will stay. Enjoy!
