I think that the countries of south america citizens never carry money/cash or any other of its forms. The money is generally used by industrialists and economy sector. While the residents remain cashless and the amenities are all provided to them. This makes me to think about the foreign tourists who visit india. Do they even pay for lodging!

I can't imagine what it would be like not to have a hundred or two in my pocket just for impulses.

That's because they're movie stars, and everybody they come across trips over themselves trying to do something to impress them; which of course is doomed to fail.

I talked to a person in a waiting room not long ago while waiting for the auto dealer to fix my car. He is a treasure hunter. He walks around with a metal detector at the beaches in florida and finds gold and jewelry. He told me that he has been doing it for 20 yrs and make a full time pay on it.

I worked for White's Electronics and Compass Electronics (a spinoff from White's) making metal detectors for many years and there were plenty of stories like this. My favorite was a guy in Salem Oregon who found a pipe with both ends capped and rusted solid, but when he got it open it was stacked inside with $50 Gold Pieces worth over a million dollars.
To be honest, I think a lot of these stories were to sell more metal detectors, but most of them that were bought ended up in the closet with dead batteries after a while.
Today's treasure hunters are on the Internet.

Exactly the same strategy used by most people trying to convince you to hunt for treasure on the Internet.

I just bought a house with a wooded lot and I am starting an family and it is my goal to be as self sufficient as I can withing the next 5 years. Obviously I am still going to need money but I would really like to be growing most of my own food as well as producing most of my own energy by this time. I do have a space confinement but my dad's 240 acre farm is almost adjacent to my property and if I have my way a little 50 yard wide strip of land that separates us will be mine in the next couple years anyway. It depends how much of a price the owner is willing to take for his property.
