Wow I did not realize how much color plays a factor i did a test run and i changed the color of the ads and well my CTR went DOWN from 1% to .3%!!!! It seems as though in general if you ads don't look like ads people tend to click on them.... just some advice.

Some people automate the rotatation of their colors and test results on a per color basis!

It's kind of hard to deny that the Adsense ads are in fact ads especially when directly below them it states " Ads by Google". rofl

I think it's more the color's appeal on people, and the way the colors fit the site that the ad is posted on

Yes it is a very important factor... this is why with TargetFirst, it is being built to completely be customizable by the publisher. That way they have complete control over the look and feel and what works best on their site.

Here's what G says about it...
Customize ad color combinations.
Try using custom color combinations for your ad units. This allows you to ensure that the text, background, and border colors of your ads complement your website. You can choose from a wide variety of colors to create your own custom color palettes, or select from over 20 pre-defined combinations. When using color palettes, we recommend making:
- The background color of the ad the same as or similar to the background color of your page.
- The border of the ad a color that is prominent on your page.
- The title of the ad a color that is similar to the text on your page.
- The URL of the ad a color similar to other link colors on your page.
For added variety and freshness, you can even choose to rotate through up to 4 different color palettes at a time.

So what kind of color you think it's good to use ??

I think generally harmonizing with the site page, but your keywords/titles need to stand out to a certain extent.

I have been testing different colors and sizes of ads also and the best for me seems to be having it blend in with the colors on my site. When it blends in they don't look so much like ads. Plus I never had any luck with the vertical top bar or the side bar....I do much better with the square box integrated into my content.
