[edit]
About Letting America Know—This is a non profit corporation, set up to protect the civil liberties of all Americans; the equal application of the “Declaration of Independence” to every American. We also protect Americans from dubious/scam practices, of some businesses. Our weapon is the media; any and all types of media; sometimes the courts.
THIS CASE: SALLIE MAE AND ITS [edit] ACTS AGAINST STUDENTS:
Sallie Mae changed ownership in 2004. The new Sallie Mae is [edit] to students. Government should investigate this company.
The following case is ongoing, and well documented. Names are changed for privacy.
This case is not about the legal process of releasing co-signers from loans. It is about this legal process being “applied or not applied” to all cosigners alike, regardless of race. It is legally correct that when a cosigner claims that the signature in the loans he is supposed to have cosigned is not his signature, that the concerned company demand a police report from this cosigner before removing his name from the loans. It is legally and morally wrong to demand this police report from one cosigner but not from the other, when their reasons are the same. It is racially discriminating to demand this police report from a black cosigner but not from a white cosigner. To end racial discrimination in America is one of the priorities of Obama administration.
THE CASE:
M.Bennet, a white man cosigned some private loans for our client.
Debi Oko, a black lady cosigned a couple more private loans for the same client. After a few years Bennet claimed that the signature on the loans he was supposed to have cosigned was not his signature and that he wanted his name off these loans. Sallie Mae did not demand a police report from Bennet. Sallie Mae quickly removed his name from these loans.
A few months later, Oko claims that the signature on the loans she was supposed to have cosigned is not her signature. Sallie Mae refuses to remove her name from these loans. Sallie Mae, instead demands that she submit a police report to the company, before her name can be removed from the loans.
This is racial discrimination. It violates Oko's civil liberty. It violates “The Declaration of Independence”. Racial discrimination is no longer acceptable in America. Sallie Mae did not apply the legal process in the case of Bennet. It released him as requested. Sallie Mae therefore should release Oko as requested, without applying the legal process. Sallie Mae set the precedence with a white cosigner; it has to do the same with the black co-signer or it is racial discrimination and that is presently against the law in America.
