Sure, just do the opposite of what dragged it down.
Live within your means so you can pay your bills on time. Don't use all of your available credit. In fact, try not to use your credit cards unless you will be able to pay them in full by the time the bills are due. Electronic payments are more predictable than snail mail (one first class envelope took 11 days from our factory in California to our office in IL)
The banks will do their best to try to trip you up, like setting due dates on weekends, hoping you will not pay attention to day of the week and wait too long to pay them on time. You have to stay one step ahead of them.
