Emergency preparedness  Reply with quote

How important do you believe it is to have emergency stores in your home?

I am talking about water, food, flashlights, maybe a firearm, extra medicines, first aid kits, etc.

How many days supplies should one have on hand in case of a natural disaster or some other event where you couldn't get to a store, or the stores were closed?

The government said a while back that 3 days worth is good, but that seems like it might be too little.

Thoughts?

hi hoardingcopper,

saw a scary show hosted by the "big o" not that
im a fan but from time to time she has a good
show on and this guy[some dr guy,not phil]
who an expert on the flu recons you will need
a minimum of 4 months of supplies.

oh,by the way you are going to find that gun
very useful.the starving masses will love the
well fed you.

"big o" kept going on about bird flu and he paid
her out saying any flu that gets going will do it.
all transport will stop.no doctors or coppers/bronze
will be fronting up to work and it will be same for all.
and you will need to be fully self contained.

and this is fair dinkum,no bs.the last flu pandemic
90 years ago killed 40.000.000.and there was no
international travel/trade then.he said if the only
company in the world who make the vacine went
into full production for five years they could only
have enough to treat 4% of the world population.

and they aint doing it.

he stressed that its a "when" not "if" situation. Shocked

and dont get me started on "peak oil" Surprised there is a thread
on this in the blue room.

good luck and many thanks,

jim.[/u]

hi to all,

"worst-case scenario"? Confused not at all.a distinct
probability.the time line is very tight on this
one.it will happen in the next 30 years.the
chances in the next five years are 70/30. Shocked

the chances in the next ten years are 50/50 Shocked

and it increases as time goes on.garanteed in the
next 30 years.im 39 but as we know the young, old
and the sick are the first to go Sad

but hey, dont believe me check it out for yourselves.
there is bulk free info on the net.try getting the
transcritps from the"big o"show.a good place to
start.

id rather have some grub stashed and have egg
on my face Embarassed than be an ostrich and have to
tell my family i did not listen to the silly man on
the money talk forum and we will be eating bugs
and dirt for the next few months Crying or Very sad

4 months worth of grub is a very cheap insurance Wink

many thanks,

jim.

re: how much. It depends on what you are preparing for. For the hurricane season in FL, I have 1-2 weeks of food, mostly tuna and crackers and Gatorade (protein, carbs, electrolytes, no fat) and canned cat-food for the pets (moist food for hydration). That is if I absolutely have to be there during the post-hurricane mess; otherwise, I take an impromptu vacation.

Oh, and always a loaded firearm, disasters notwithstanding. And a few hundred rounds of ammo. People laughed at me until the LA riots (I lived there at the time) and the state froze all ammunition sales and many storeowners were found dead with their .45 calibre door-stops. Suddenly, 2,000 hollow-points was a very good thing to have.

stats and truth  Reply with quote

hey tim,

those stats came from the "expert" on the
1 hour "big o" special.im gona get his name
cause im sure he will have a site or make
contributions on other sites.

i will post it asap.as for sites there is too
many to list.just type in "avian flu" and
put the kettle on and feet up.

im no "big o" fan and she will spin what
she likes but they are bold statements
to say in front of an audiance of i dont know,
mabye 20.000.000.and nobody has come
out and disputed them.hmmmmm....

and as for you,rolo

your "its on the net it must be true"
smarty pants remark was bombastic,
cheap and totally unnecessary.

the rest of your post was great stuff
that was let down by your opening
remark and thats a shame.

ill pray for your soul.

many thanks,

jim.

I disagree: it was totally necessary.

You can criticise all you want, but what you DID NOT and CAN NOT say about my remark is that it is INACCURATE. Everything else is just noise.

Medicine and technology were insignificant 90 years ago compared to today, but that, apparently, wasn't mentioned on your daytime TV show.

Hey, how come all the Y2K doomsayers aren't openly mocked on daytime TV? Oh, 'cos it's those same shows that sponsored that garbage...
