Website Costs  Reply with quote

What I would like to know is how much it costs per month to keep a website up. I am told that it depends on traffic and bandwidth.

Quick run down of costs.

Domain name (7 to 10 bucks for a year)

Basic bandwidth can run from 5 to 15 dollars a month (if you site really takes off you would look into dedicated server (50 to 150 a month)

The more bandwidth the more costs.

Then you have website design (if you do this yourself it only costs time Smile )

That's about right. Disk space and bandwidth requirements of new and small sites is very very low so you can get hosting for just a few bucks a month pretty easy if you need too, but don't go too cheap if reliability is important. Not critical for hobby sites sometimes, but if you are trying to run a proper business, then it's important.

I've got a dedicated server, and I'm thinking about letting members pay for hosting accounts with forum cash. Send me a message if that is of interest.

You can get a domain and get a free hosting without ads.

Which cost only 6.99 for domain Smile

But if you are going to setup a site with more than HTML files. Then get a paid hosting - lowest is $1 per month.

Make sure your hosting is reliable, Nothing like starting up a site and not being able to access it. Get references from friends family etc.. or even here for good hosts.
