Who's doing what?  Reply with quote

Hey all, just ran across this site today and thought I'd check it out for a while. I was reading a few of the posts and i haven't yet found any actual successes. It seems that most of the money earned is somewhat miniscule. I'm in the same boat most of you, as I work two jobs to get by and have zero passive income...

I'd like to start a topic to find out what everyone is doing and how successful they currently are with their endeavors.

I'll start...

I'm a firefighter making roughly $45k/year.
Aside from my set retirement I have a 457/deferred compensation program(10% of my money goes there)
A 401k from my second job waiting tables.
A recently purchased condominium which I understand to be a liability and not an asset.

My goals are:

To start a website which will gross $1,000/ month. I had a site that did this before I was a Firefighter, I hope I can do it once again.

An Income property outside of california by 2007

One day knowing enough to develop an "intellectual" asset which will help me retire.

I read on this site about the 28 steps to a million. This seems like it would be a very fun thing to goof around with as well.

Well.... I'd love to hear what everyone else has going on and an actual dollar amount as to what everyone brings in with these programs. Appreciate the time and thanks a bunch.

I am just getting started. I turned 25 in November, and my 10 Year Plan is starting on January 1st. I have a very nice job for being 25, and the 401k plan is excellent (I essentially, get %19 total if I contribute 5%). So that will take care of retirement, but I also want to be financially independent by the time I am 35. So, my Plan A is to work this current job for 5 years, and save/invest my way through my 10 year plan. I am also going to be buying an investment property in the summer, and I am starting a side business that I hope can become a full-time business by the time my 5 years is up at my current employer. I also have a small rollover IRA that I started from my last job's 401k.

You can accomplish both of these by learning web design skills. It's not nearly as hard as most people think and there are plenty of resources and tutorials online you can use free.

I did this when I retired in Sept, 2000 and make over $1,000 a month with just a few customers I maintain sites for.

I also have the proceeds from a business I sold, payments on the property my office was in, social in-security payments and a few side jobs to make retirement pretty comfortable for me.

My biz  Reply with quote

I've been self-employed on a full-time basis since 1987. My business is selling custom-printed promotional advertising (all those ink pens, T-shirts, coffee mugs, golf balls and accessories, embroidered caps, shirts, and jackets, magnets, mouse pads, umbrellas, etc) to business, industry, associations, and gov't agencies from local to state and federal.

Most of my present business is to clients who have been ordering from me for 2 to 21 years. But, I still added one or more new customers every month during 2005, including September through November after Hurricane Rita ripped up my local and regional market.

My secondary income is from the same business. I earn over-ride commissions by sponsoring and training new dealers to sell for the same company I am affiliated with as an independent agent.

This is one of those large career fields that is nearly invisible. There are probably 70,000 or more people earning part or full-time income selling in this industry. It's not small potatos either, as the US market is an $18 Billion industry.

In the beginning, I did all my selling face-to-face, but expanded online around 1999, and now get some excellent business from San Diego to Washington, D.C. I have even enjoyed a few international orders, due to my website.

Please don't spread false information to attract people because it hurts all of us GDI reps. There are many places to register a .ws name including GoDaddy.com

What makes GDI a better value is joining a team with ideas and encouragement that help you build a better business. I was a member for six months before I started growing because I kept showing that movie and had no help from my sponsors.

I finally figured out what works and now that I am helping others learn what I did, the business is growing like it should.

Just as an idea think about this. How many people from the thousands of members do you see on the leaderboards each week? Count the number of times during each week you are offered a chance to see that movie, why aren't all those people on the leaderboards too?

The fact is you will not build a business that lasts by using hype and lies. They offer an excellent value when you consider the tools included for the masses to finally have a functional website of their own, but if your sales are based on getting people excited about becoming a six figure earner, they will quit faster than you can sign them up.

You are trying to sell drills when what people really want is a hole.

Why isn't your video on your own domain instead of on google's site?

I'm using the Referralware system to make a living and it's just one of the few things on the internet that works in terms of making big money.
See link in signature.

Also I'm getting into the Freestore system and planing on getting started on Ebay soon.
