What country is the next housing boom going to hit???  Reply with quote

It is definitely slowing in the U.S. What will be the next country/countries to boom. I think it is already happening in some areas. The U.S. economy is one of the worst in the world's right now, and this might mean a stall in rising real estate prices.

A little debate I guess.

The housing boom that we have experienced in the US has taken place in many other countries as well. Part of the reason for this is that many global stock markets dropped around the same time that the US equity markets did. This caused many people to turn to real estate. The potential bursting of the real estate bubble is something that could take place in many countries all around the world - we are not alone.

I do agree with the jist of your post.

However, I think he is looking for where it is going to boom.

Mexico has restrictions on forigners owning land. Know a few people who have already found loop holes.

Could be dangerous for them if their property gets confiscated. That kind of manover is to rich for my blood.

There is definately more risk investing in realestate if your not local. My rental is in walking distance and it is still a pain in the butt.

I agree with you lottomagicz. That is what he is looking for, but it is still very risky nevertheless. With the current level of overvaluation in the real estate markets, he has a greater chance of picking a place where prices are going to fall rather than rise. It's like someone trying to find a good stock to invest in the year 2000. The odds are against you.

Lotto, I am sure that in hindsight one can find the top gainers in non-technology related sectors in 2001, but the reality is that the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (composed of mostly non-tech stocks) was up only 0.56% in 2001. Not a performance that makes you pop open any champagne bottles.

Don't know what country will be the next boom but I know that Hawaii will continue to boom for at least the next five years... Why? They are getting an aircraft carrier and its support ships. Homes there now are overprice and they will continue to be that way for several more years to come.

In my area (Guam), they just announced a base realignment in Japan and they plan on relocating 7k Marines here. I was thinking of preparing to hunker down but I've changed my strategy after reading this wonderful news. I plan on buying at least 3-5 rental house within the next 12 months.

Texas, North Carolina, and Virginia are the three most likely areas to be the next California.

Texas especially.

Number one economic factor in the San Antonio and Austin area is Land Development.

Houses are going up faster here than anywhere else I've ever seen.
