"Super Size Me" Movie  Reply with quote

Anybody seen this movie?

It's about a guy who decides to eat nothing but McDonalds for 30 days straight and to see what happens, it's also a documentary about fast food and it's effect on our health. Very good stuff, makes me really not want to eat at McDonalds again!

We rented it a few months back. That guy's crazy! I haven't touched fast food since, though. Niether have my kids. Not on purpose. We didn't make a rule or anything. It's just... there are better things to eat.

Still, it wasn't a very helpful study. The conclusions were obvious: McDonalds food isn't healthy. Well, duh, thanks for that, Mr. Extreme Guy, but shouldn't you be on "Jackass"?

It was interesting, however, I remember reading about some high school teacher that made a bet with his students that he could lose weight on the McDonalds diet and actually did.
It's not so much the food, (even though a high fat McD's diet is definitely not good for you) but more so the total lack of activity.
If someone had a diet that consisted mainly of McD's but exercised heavily they would probably be healthier thatn someone who ate salads but always sat around without moving all day.

I'm sure it's possible to lose weight on a McDonald's diet... and look sickly and be on the brink of death. Man, that movie has officially ruined McDonald's for me.

Yeah, I caught a little bit of that movie. Definitely makes you think about brown bagging it or going to someplace nice next tie you are hungry.

Hi All,

It had a catchy main Supersize Me tune that I still have in my head. Not sure If I could put my self thru a month of that though.

As for the Professor who lost weight on that diet I wonder if he exercised though out the time. Our guy Morgan sure didnt and he was a sorry chappy.

I am sure his bank manager likes him though Wink .

Cheers,

Niall

I rented it a week ago, and I thought it was pretty good. However, I dont think that companies should be blamed. People should have responsibility for their weight problems!

I love that McDonald's soon took away the "SuperSize" option soon thereafter.

thought it was a great movie, and agree with the comment about blaming others for a personal decision. The guy, Morgan, came out with a show on FX called '30 Days!' Did anyone catch any of it? It roughly was similar to 'SuperSize ME!' It looked at different social aspects of our daily lives, and those through others in certain situations. All in all, pretty good show. Occasionally got a little one-sided, but for the most part, did a good job of showing what it would be like for 30 days if you did.... Some of the show topics were: Poverty in America, Islamic-Americans, Binge Drinking, Steroid Abuse, etc.
