Verify that the car has not been is a collision - bent frame, twisted frame, dog tracking. Those things cause crooked tire wear, front-end alignment problems. These things are difficult/expensive to correct. Fortunately, the research is available - carfax.

Test drive: That will tell you how the engine performs, engine noises, exhaust smoke. Front end shimmy. Rattles, noises. Listen for rear differential noise/whine.

Check for small stuff - radio, window operation, power door locks, dash board lights, speedo, odo, fuel gage. Most of these are inexpensive to fix - but it also gives you an idea if the car was 'kept up'.

And there are some brand-specific things to check. Eg, GM cars in the 2000 era have/had failed fuel gages, door lock solenoids, window motors, modules etc - almost all of the electro-mechanical items failed at least once on those cars. So google the car that you are looking at and see what failures are common to them.

Have the car inspected
If you’re buying your car used you may want to have it inspected by a mechanic before you finalize the purchase, especially if you’re buying it from an individual. You can get a pre-purchase inspection for $100. It will take the mechanic less than an hour — and it might save you thousands of dollars down the road
Deal with the paperwork
If you’re buying a used car directly from its previous owner, make sure that your sale contract transfers full ownership of the title and registration to you. It’s a good idea to get a lawyer to look through your contract and make sure everything is in order. You may also want to check with your local department of motor vehicles for any overdue registration fees associated with the car that might pass to you.
Take a nice test drive
You may be in a hurry to lay claim to your car and get it on the road. However, if you rush the test drive there’s a good chance you’ll regret it later. Call the dealership or seller in advance to book a test drive appointment. Don’t be afraid to ask for extra time. After all, you’re probably going to have this car for at least five years. You should spend some time getting to know it before you take it home.
Make sure to take a few moments after the test drive to play with the controls and adjust the seats. You should ensure that there are comfortable options for everyone who will be riding in your car.

There are many new cars from popular brands, I recommend to watch professional reviews and then to make a choice. What's your budget? You can find many interesting reviews and videos here, I always read this blog.

Good afternoon! I'm tired of my cars constantly breaking down, I decided that I needed to choose a truck for myself more carefully so as not to constantly repair it. It's good that I found a wonderful ford truck on a website that reviewed it. Excellent review for those who is looking for a good car!

I also wanted a car for a long time. But I had to clear it through customs. I turned to a very good service https://clearit.ca/canadian-customs-broker-blog/ . They tackled this closely. It really was a quality service. I was surprised! Therefore, I can safely advise these guys and not even worry.

Car Payments. Making payments on your car is the biggest, most obvious expense of your vehicle. the average monthly car payment on a new vehicle has risen to $550, according to loan statistics. As a general rule, you should assume that the average car owner puts 12,000 miles on a car each year. To determine whether a car has reasonable mileage, you can simply multiply 12,000 by its age. That means good mileage for a car that's 5 years old is 60,000.
Here are things to consider when you buying a used car.
Define what you want and do your research.
Set your budget.
Consider all of your financing options.
Run a Carfax report.
Do a test drive.
Get the car inspected.
Be prepared to walk away.

The second commenter, Oldguy, gave you the most adequate advice, please pay attention to it. I just finished reading these Nissan reviews https://nissan.pissedconsumer.com/review.html and decided to refuse from idea of buying a used auto, some new cars are rather affordable today.
