The long term financial concerns aside, aren't you going to pay a bundle to ship the car to Europe? How long will you be in Germany? Why not sell the car here and buy another when you get to Germany? I would at least look into what European cars cost over there. Taxes, tariffs, free trade and VAT in the EU are all going to effect the cost and you need to at least consider that as part of the cost of the transaction.

I agree with Publius here. Why not go and buy a car in Germany? Also, if you are not emigrating there then you shouldn’t spend much there.
