I'm not even sure if bankruptcy will help me.

It probably won't help - technically you are not bankrupt, you own real estate. The bk court would ask you to sell the house and use the proceeds. And that might be a good answer for you - ie, sell the house, move into an apt, invest the money in an income fund, and use the income to pay your rent, living expenses, medical bills. You'll still receive the disability checks - and receive Canadian medical care.

There are other options for you other than bankruptcy and you only need to find a good one among them. Basically, the bank or private firms have the main options Bankruptcy, proposals, negotiating and Consolidation loan. For more, you also contact Kevin Thatcher (Toronto), might be of good help.
