Personally I try to avoid using credit cards too much. Having a high limit is great and all, but the interest can really get you.

I've gotten to the point where I just leave my only credit card at home and pay for everything in cash or with my bank card (which is cash) and my wife uses the credit card for gas. We both have credit scores in the +800's.

I would imagine that if getting your credit limit on credit cards raised is the solution you may have some serious underlying problems.
I've gone from a mostly cash payment system earlier in life to the opposite, mostly charged, almost never using cash. But I haven't ever carried a balance over from one month to the next in 40+ years. Never needed a higher credit limit.
But everyone's circumstances aren't the same and there are certainly different ways of handling cash flow that can work out for people.

I'm a big fan of using my credit card although I'm usually afraid of spending too much money and fall in debt  especially when it's so easy to pay for your shopping wherever it is from, I'm currently using http://gpndata.com and so far everything was all right and fast.
So it's good to know how you can increase your credit card limit because lots of stores use this kind of payment.

Blixet has it right. Use the card when it makes sense for you. Affinity cards (travel points or cash back) are the way to make the card work for you but ALWAYS make sure you pay off your balance when it's due. No credit charges, on time payments and keeping your balance at about half your limit will ensure high credit scores and ease of increasing the limit. Once you're comfortable that your monthly expenses on your card don't exceed half your limit, you're set.

I like to get my credit card limits increased regularly, because it earns me more passive income when I sell spots on my cards to authorized users. The higher the limit, the more value to the authorized users. I have B of A, Capital One and Discover, and I increase the limits for all of them online.

Personally, I'm not after the credit card limits. I'm already contented with what the bank gave me because I might be tempted to spend too much if I got a higher credit limit. As much as possible, I do want to pay in cash.

I call every six months like clockwork and ask for a credit limit increase. I also ask for them to lower my interest rate. I've found that I get both done about 50% of the time. I even had the lady on the phone mention that I called exactly six months ago, and I told her there was a method behind my madness.

Years ago I called my cc company and tried to get my limit lowered - my thinking was that if the cc fell into wrong hands the damage would me limited. (I don't recall if they lowered it) These days, the banks are so good at fraud monitoring, I pay no attn to the limit. The bank catches the fraud, calls me, over-nights a new cc, all at no expense to me.
I'm with Blixet, I do everything by cc, seldom use cash, usually don't carry any. Have never paid interest to a cc company, always pay the monthly bill.

TBH, i never owned a credit card in my life and I think I will never get one since I've been so used to using cash from groceries to large purchases. I do have existing debts but I pay for them cash, as well.
