URL shorteners, such as LLinkz, bit.ly and tinyurl, are services that help take longer URLs (which can be over a hundred characters long) and transform them into manageable links that almost never exceed 20 characters. URL shorteners are not new - TinyURL has been around since 2002. But their popularity has skyrocketed with the rise of Twitter, which only allows for 140 characters in any message.

Having seen the trend with short URL services, my best advice is to stay away from these deals for they are collecting your traffic from your efforts which is only going to hurt your business promotions in the end.
With personal URL's available for as low as .99 cents is the better strategy. You can then forward to any URL you want without losing control of your prospects or your sales. Think about it, wouldn't you want to promote your own personal URL over some scrambled little short URL which most savy internet marketers and prospects would never click on. When did you ever see a shortened URL come up in any search engine? NEVER.
Simply put, stay away from any short URL offer, not worth your time promoting these as most will ignore a non specific URL. Choose your own universal URL using keywords related to your business. You would be amazed at how much more success you will see over using any short URL.

unless posted on company's official website/blog/facebook/twitter, i don't usually click on shortened urls. couldn't tell whether I'm going to go to some useful links or ads offering vidcam with sexy moms.
