| Heard about REIT? |

Hey guys just a head up for those of you who might considering property investment. Maybe you could try this new thing called Real Estate Investment Trust. It's practically you share your risk and investment amoount with a pool of people who have similar interest with you to invest in mostly commercial properties. So you own a "share" in that property and usually it gains more on the revenue instead of increase property price.

REITs have been around in the U.S. since 1960, hardly a "new thing". The FTSE EPRA/NAREIT Global Real Estate Index contains 47 countries.

Real estate can make a good addition to one's portfolio for a variety of reasons. REITs are certainly one way to invest in real estate. It is important to understand what you are getting when investing in REITs, not the least of which are the tax implications. It is not the same as direct investment in real estate.
That said, I hold 15% of my portfolio in equity REITs.

sorry guys. just heard about it and found that some people still not aware of REIT too like me *an investment noob*.
With that being said, and what you both had mentioned, do you think as long as I can find a trustworthy developers, REIT will be a safe bet? I heard many stuffs about other investment like stocks. Or being a landlord. But since I can't seem to find any forum that discuss about REIT I am thinking that there might be other side of it that have to be focused on before one decides on

I don't put any money into REIT's. I bought a duplex worth 200k in a good suburb of Minneapolis near the river and light rail. I have two renters that are wondferul and pay their bills. The property cash flows almost $590 after all expenses paid. I enjoy being a landlord and the work that it takes to maintain the property. It has been a very successful endeavor, but believe me, it's not for everyone.

yeah I guess so too. My parents owned a condominium to rent out and I really believe that if you get a great tenants then it's really lucky. I used to have roommates who keep complaining about everything in their room and it's annoying even to another roommates. Therefore I was considering REIT since I don't really have to deal with the tenants and such and get the fixed income :S.
