I have just this morning (31 Dec 2013) returned after an emergency call out. I almost didn't make it. Dubai is attempting a world record fireworks display. It is happening right on my front porch, so to speak. I don't yet know exactly what kind of view I'll have from my balcony, but I hope it is a good one.
They plan to have 450,000 individual fireworks synchronized from 400 different locations along 99 km (about 60 miles) of shoreline. I live right on one of the shores. I hope my camera takes a decent shot if the fireworks are close enough.

In the opening scene (which lasts about 2 seconds), my apartment is about in the center of the screen. I live about halfway up the Palm Jumeirah trunk, on the "right hand" side as you view it. I can see both the Burj al Arab and the Burj Khalifa from my balcony. The big shows lasted over 30 minutes in total, with maybe 2 minutes between them. In all, there were fireworks going off for nearly an hour.
