Pay off low interest Car Loan?
posted by: Jack10525 @ Thu May 24, 2018 10:42 pm
I've got about 6500 left on an auto loan and 1500 on a credit card. I have 15k in an emergency fund (cash) and am wondering if I should just pay off this debt now. The car loan is 2% and the CC is no interest until Aug 2018. I just hate having payments. Financially I live well below my means but am looking at buying a new car at the end of this year. What would you do?

When I purchased my home I was working full-time and was making great income so approval was easy. 3 years after purchasing my home I went into business for myself.
I had to take out a home equity line of credit for $50k to get the business going and I have $35K owing on it.
My income now however is very...

EUR/USD the euro’s bearish trend remains strong
posted by: SusanaP @ Mon May 21, 2018 10:29 pm
Last week, all the major currencies expect for the Swiss franc declined against the US dollar. The single currency was the biggest loser, shedding -1.42%.

On Friday, the euro dropped to 1.1750 against the greenback after an unsuccessful attempt at exiting the triangle. The price reversed downwards after news from Italy that two parties (The League and The Five Star Movement) have pledged to roll back austerity measures and increase spending as part of their coalition agreement. Long-term Italian bond yields shot up on this news to reach a 7-...

3-Year Variable rate mortgage in Canada
posted by: Anita01 @ Mon May 21, 2018 5:43 am
The 3-year variable is an alternative to the standard 5-year variable.

People choose 3-year variables for the following reasons:

1. When this term has lower rates than 5-year variables.
2. Because they want more flexibility to refinance earlier with no penalty.
3. When they don’t plan to own the home for more than three years.
4. Because they want a mortgage with a cheaper penalty if they break the contract early.

But, there are some disadvantages for a variable rate mortgage like:
1. Your interest costs can soar if rates rocket ...

How to calculate % hedge of a company
posted by: Curious @ Fri May 18, 2018 11:32 am
I am working on few companies' hedging strategy and am studying their annual reports for the same. I am highly confused by the approach taken by me.

I am comparing outstanding notional amount of all derivatives with the Foreign currency earnings, borrowings (at LIBOR or other international floating rate) and expenditure.

The hedging percentage of firms found is absurd and doesn't show any commonality of approach taken by the companies.

Also the outstanding amount of derivatives is not mentioned by half of the companies. Please help.

AUD/USD consolidates in a range above 0.75

• Subdued USD price action does little to provide any fresh impetus.
• Traders now eye Fed speakers for some short-term opportunities.

The AUD/USD pair now seems to have entered a consolidation phase and oscillated within a 15-20 pips narrow trading range through the Asian session on Friday.
